Singing Resistance KW is a grassroots movement seeking to organize and promote resistance-oriented singing opportunities in and around Waterloo Region.
Drawing inspiration from the Singing Resistance movement, we seek to strengthen community engagement through song. Singing Resistance aims to build a mass movement of singers, grounded in love, nonviolence and solidarity.
Why singing? Song is an antidote to fear, and can foster solace, strength and solidarity. It helps us connect to each other and through song we can name and protect that which we hold sacred.
All are welcome to participate in this movement for collective liberation. We are singing for a future in which all people – Black, Brown, Indigenous, immigrant, trans, queer, disabled, poor – and the Earth are safe, sovereign and protected.
